Location:                     San Luis Obispo, CA

 

Position Objective

The Press Operator role is responsible for operating ARSOMA press equipment and the set up and operation of single and multi-color printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/ expectations. 

Essential Functions

  • Ensures that product is printed according to specifications.
  • Reviews job ticket and verify stock, inks, and dies are available and used as specified.
  • Performs line clearance, FASO, and Plant Test Method quality checks/tests as required in approved SOP documents or work instructions per size of production run.
  • Confirms all materials needed in order to produce product has been kitted properly, mounted properly, and is present.
  • Sets up machine; installs Anilox, inks, varnish, correct material roll stock(s), die, and plates. Waste Matrix is removed as directed by product requirements.
  • Sets impressions and registers print-to-print and print-to-die. Uses camera inspection equipment when present or as required.
  • Sets up materials as identified/required in item specifications or work instructions.             
  • Data enter all production data into Vision system (Examples: roll stock information, time information, “good” footage, etc. as required by Production Management.
  • Adjusts the press to the paper size and feeds the paper through the press cylinders.
  • Completes in-process inspections as required by size of production run per work instructions and/or quality control plan.  Sample retains are pulled and identified via trace labels based on size of production order.
  • Completes all checklist forms to record production job information.
  • Performs TPM/preventive maintenance to press as planned.
  • Follows 6S guidelines assigned to work area and surrounding areas. 

 

Experience/Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Requires a minimum 2 years of relevant experience in press operation in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of Flexographic presses a plus.
  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail and word processing.

  • Meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on a mechanical test.
  • Set up, operate, and perform preventative maintenance on press.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Read and comprehend measurements on a ruler.
  • Solid verbal and written communications skills with strong ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Pass color vision and color hue tests.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to be a cross-functional employee that can work with multiple teams within the organization to achieve success.
  • Capable of devising multiple alternative solutions based on limited assumptions and information.

Physical environment/working conditions: Print shop manufacturing, standing 90%, walking 80%, pulling 30%, and lifting 50%
