Job Description

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the Omaha quality department with overall responsibility to ensure that products meet or exceed customer requirements which are supported in the end-to-end quality processes within the plant.

Safety – Be an advocate and role model for all aspects of plant safety. Assist department managers in identifying safety risks or concerns. Actively participate in safety efforts including STOP audits and all safety-related training. Ensure visitor safety policies are followed during trials and customer visits.
Quality culture – be the champion for developing and sustaining a culture of Quality and continuous improvement in the Omaha plant.

Customer relationships – support a customer-centric culture within the facility. Strive to establish strong relationships within customer manufacturing sites as well as container and contract manufacturing shipping locations. Make customer visits as needed to address Quality issues or support our customer’s needs.

Corrective action – manage the root cause and corrective action process and work collaboratively with operations to ensure effective and permanent corrective actions are implemented to address Quality issues.

External audits – manage second and third party audits and work with management to ensure any audit findings are promptly addressed.
Internal audits – lead and develop the plant’s internal audit team. Schedule frequent internal audits to ensure operations comply with all SOP’s, Quality policies, procedures and test methods. Conduct mock recall exercises as required by company procedure.

Validation and change control – ensure plant-wide compliance to validation and change control protocols and assist management with validation work for equipment, processes, products and test methods.

Specification management – work collaboratively with commercial team on specification management process including acquiring/creating specs for new product development and managing changes to existing customer specifications.

Communication – represent Quality in required plant meetings. Communicate the plant’s Quality performance to plant associates and management on a regular basis.

Raw material Quality – ensure the integrity and Quality of incoming raw materials by managing the material specification and COA review processes.
People – lead Quality Team and provide guidance to the plant leadership team for daily plant Quality operations as well as personal development. Assist with onboarding and training of associates in MCC’s Quality policies and procedures.

Performance - support the plant’s Quality management efforts by collecting and reporting Quality KPI data and financial metrics as required by Corporate QA and Plant Operations Management.

Lean manufacturing – work with operations to champion a Lean culture by participating in or facilitating continuous improvement projects and/or Kaizen events.

Job Requirements

Experience/Skills Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technical field. Quality experience preferably in the printing industry with proven ability to run a plant quality department. Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).  Excel skills, including ability to input formulas, perform analysis, create pivot tables, etc. College level math including statistical analysis. Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements. Rational, fact-driven decision making skills. High level of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and present findings. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong organizational and planning skills. Experience leading projects, delegating, and seeing problems through to resolution. Articulate and clear in written and verbal communication. Persuasive and passionate in the spoken and written word. Must be able to relate to people at all levels of the organization. Assertive and solution-focused. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment. Positive attitude, team player. Ability to read rulers. Knowledge of ISO 9001; 2000 standards and ASQ Certifications preferred. Food experience industry desired; experience with ISO 22000 preferred. Must be able to move about in offices and plants in a safe manner; travel to customer sites required. Ability to lead, oversee, and develop others.
