MULTICOLOR CORPORATION in Batavia, Ohio, just minutes from Anderson Township, is searching for a Purchasing Manager to join our growing team at our largest facility in the world! While championing these initiatives for all direct and indirect materials for plant operations, the Purchasing Manager works jointly with Corporate Purchasing to determine the lowest total cost and meet quality requirements for all purchases. As the main point of contact for all purchasing functions, this leader will ensure a continuous supply of material while minimizing inventory carrying costs.

As Purchasing Manager, you will:

  • Review raw material orders for new products and customers prior to order approval; place purchase orders for raw materials, indirect materials, and supplies for plant operations; and execute orders for AFE purchases.
  • Identify and track the status of orders to ensure on-time delivery to support operations. Investigate and resolve supplier delays, price discrepancies, and other supplier issues to ensure continuous supply of material.
  • Manage the raw material forecast process for certain suppliers. Understand customer demand, historical trends and supplier lead time changes. Obtain and analyze quotations, including the review of contract terms and conditions on supplier bids as necessary.
  • Manage inventory levels to minimize carrying costs, track consignment inventory, and perform historical analysis to identify opportunities to increase inventory turns and minimize waste.
  • Process and track supplier claims for material quality issues and ensure timely closure.
  • Analyze changing trends in pricing and availability and recommend cost savings initiatives. Support a continuous improvement philosophy. Ensure a continuous material flow that meets production requirements and quality standards at a competitive price.
  • Participate in business on-boarding teams to ensure the availability of raw material for production. Maintain all purchasing records and documents, work with Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies, and ensure processes adhere to SOX compliance (including purchasing system management for new suppliers, materials, and updates to pricing and personnel training).
  • Provide routine, ad-hoc, and metric reporting related to material purchases, inventory, and consignment.
  • Build supplier relationships including the completion of supplier scorecards. Lead and communicate the implementation and status of projects and cost savings initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related area or equivalent with a minimum of 7-10 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, label industry preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience, preferably in a multiple location structure.
  • Experience using an ERP system to plan and procure materials with proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven strong communication, negotiation, analytical and project management skills.
  • Proven record of achieving annual cost reduction savings and working productively in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPM, CPIM, CIRM, CFPIM, or other certifications a plus along with experience with environmental regulations.
