Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the daily operation of Converting assets to include equipment, products, processes, and manpower as well as the local logistical functions dealing with receiving, shipping, and offsite warehouse. Safety, quality, and productivity initiatives to meet the company’s objectives are the primary focus.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Create a work environment that motivates and empowers employees to meet and exceed expectations for productivity, quality, waste, housekeeping, and safety.
  2. Primary authority for the supervision of hourly employees with respect to time cards, vacation approval and coverage, attendance, quality, and safety compliance.
  3. Coordinate with local Account Executives with respect to making timely shipments using resources assigned by the Logistics Manager (Mason).  
  4. Utilize OE and 5s programs to provide daily results vs. targets and communicate variances to Senior Mgmt that includes problem solving and action items to address variances.
  5. Collect and report daily on equipment results versus targets for volume, waste, downtime, etc.
  6. Coordinate with Scheduling to ensure that daily customer requirements are being met.
  7. Communicate with Maintenance regarding scheduled PMs as well as unscheduled downtime in an effort to optimize equipment performance.    
  8. Other duties as assigned to advance the mission of Company.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years demonstrated supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  3. Minimum of two years of experience in manufacturing environment with exposure to prepress, printing, and/or finishing.
  4. Ability to serve as a Lean Six Sigma process owner and/or team member.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in both person and various electronic media.
  6. Ability to manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  7. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  8. Ability to work with internal and external individuals, demonstrating a high level of professionalism.
  9. Ability to use and a working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Publisher, and Explorer).
  10. Highly organized and detail oriented.
  11. Enthusiasm for learning and personal growth.
  12. Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  13. Must be willing to work any shift as warranted.

 

ADDENDUM – FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENT FOR POSITIONS REQUIRING PESTICIDE USAGE 

Job Title: Production Supervisor 

Description of Training:

Must successfully complete training in pesticide usage within one (1) month after the date of appointment to this position and will not work in unsupervised situations until these training requirements have been met. Training will be part of the EHS New Employee training.

Must be trained on the following: Chemical control, outdoor and indoor usage requirements, pesticide labeling, purchase of pesticides, required PPE and understand and follow pesticide procedures and cleanup.

All operators receive on-the-job training in pesticide usage by Facilities Manager or area Supervisor. Annual refresher training will be conducted in classroom setting.
