Job Description

Multi-Color Corporation is hiring Flexographic Plate/Screen Makers (Print Tool Technician) in our York PA Production Facility!

What does a “Print Tool Technician” do?

This position works closely with our Pre-Press Division and sets the foundation for successful print production. The Plate/Screen Maker (Print Tool Technician) ensures that the proper tools are available when the press needs them or provides timely communication with production to minimize downtime. A person in this position will be responsible for making  plates and screens according to our Customer’s job ticket specifications. An ideal candidate is someone with solid work experience, very detail oriented, good attendance and a desire to grow and learn!

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Make flexographic/litho plates
  • Make Rotary Screens
  • Responsible for the critical evaluation of all plates/screens made and completes appropriate QA check lists
  • Responsible for maintaining Plate and Screen Tracking Logs
  • Verify information on Plate Envelope is correct
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining platemaking room/screen room and equipment
  • Responsible for completing preventive maintenance in accordance to set schedule and need
  • Coordinate plate priorities with Scheduling, Graphics Coordinator, or Graphics Supervisor
  • Maintains PPMS and PSA schedules to understand priorities and mark completion of jobs or flags
  • Plate Mounting/Dismounting
  • Participate in continuous improvement / Kaizen teams.
  • Attend department meetings and internal training classes

Job Requirements

You offer:

  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Demonstrated stable attendance record.
  • Strong attention to detail. Ability to read, understand and follow directions to the letter.
  • Ability to comply with all company and safety procedures and policies.
  • Technical expertise in flexo, litho, rotary screen and general printing processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into actionable tasks.
  • Intimate knowledge in preparing / planning artwork for high-volume printing highly desired.
  • Knowledge of color separations, press layouts, print specifications highly desired.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Radius job management software experience is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to use a computer to view production schedule, recognized similar-type jobs or scheduling improvement opptys to support operation efficiency.
  • Ability to follow quality and safety requirements in the set up and delivery of plates.
  • Positive attitude, ability to learn and take direction.
  • Physically able to stretch, bend and work in confined space and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace; light maintenance of machinery and slitting blades may also be required
  • Solid work experience, strong math skills, dependability and punctuality.

 

NOTE: You may be required to work with press operators to view labels with assistance of strobe light (Warning: Strobe lights may trigger epileptic seizures in persons with photosensitive epilepsy)

Our York PA plant runs 24 hours a day, five days per week with opptys for overtime.

You may also have:

Flexographic print/production knowledge, or better still, plate making experience - we would love it!
