Job Description


The primary purpose of this position is the overall safe and proper operation of the gravure printing press. This position maintains and ensures the cleanliness of the print units and associated printing equipment (print trolleys, sumps, pumps, hoses, filters, parts washer, and associated washing equipment).  Assist the operator in order to meet both departmental and company goals.


  1. Perform the safe and proper set-up, start-up, and shut down of the press.
  2. Maintain and ensure the cleanliness of the print units and associated printing equipment (print trolleys, sumps, pumps, hoses, filters, parts washer and associated washing equipment).
  3. Load and unload rolls.
  4. Blend inks and color match as necessary to maintain continuous operation.
  5. Assist the operator with the identification of print defects and corrective/preventative measures to eliminate/prevent print defects.
  6. Working knowledge of ISO quality management systems requirements.
  7. Must follow applicable Food Safety policies and procedures.
  8. Other duties as assigned to advance the mission of the Company.


    1. Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the pressroom.
    2. Ensure compliance with all EHS regulations, requirements and training.
    3. Assist with all job changes.
    4. Respond to plant emergencies (Only if a member of the 1st Alert Team).

Job Requirements


    1. Minimum of High School Diploma. Significant experience related directly to position duties may be considered as substitute for formal education.
    2. Ability to manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
    3. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    4. Ability to work with internal and external individuals, demonstrating a high level of professionalism.
    5. Ability to use and a working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
    6. Highly organized, detail oriented.
    7. Enthusiasm for learning and personal growth.
    8. Good written and verbal communication skills.
    9. Ability to use and a working knowledge of the ink dispensing system.
    10. Ability to use and a working knowledge of quality equipment (X-Rite color gauge and associated software, Infinity software, COF tester, rub tester, barcode scanner, humidity cabinets).


  1. Ability to lift 45-50 pounds.
  2. Ability to stand/walk for 8-12 hours.
  3. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and reach above shoulder level occasionally while performing necessary duties.
  4. Ability to work around hazardous waste/chemicals (see Addendum).


Job Title: Cerutti and Rotomec Press Operator and Pressman

Job Description relating to Hazardous Waste: Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must possess the ability to interpret and implement site processes, procedures and environmental regulations. Must posses the ability to work independently, using good judgment and discretion in making decisions which may directly impact facility compliance. Must be able to wear chemical protective clothing, (Only if a member of the 1st Alert Team). Must perform hazardous waste management duties to include handling, storage, inspection, disposition, container management and labeling.  Performs hazardous waste satellite accumulation duties including weekly inspections to ensure containers are in good condition.  Must manage satellite area and when 55-gallon limit is exceeded, marks the container(s) with the date of accumulation, and removes drum from the satellite accumulation area and places at the regulated centralized 90-day accumulation area within 72 hours.  Ensures all documentation is properly completed and maintained. 


Description of Training:

Must successfully complete training in hazardous waste management satellite accumulation procedures within six (6) months after the date of appointment to this position and will not work in unsupervised situations until these training requirements have been met. Must also participate in an annual review of this training. 

Must be trained on the following: Communication and alarm systems and predetermined responses and methods to control releases, leaks, spills, fires or explosions and ability to shut down operations, inspection of waste storage areas, handling waste, chemical characteristics of waste they are assigned to handle or inspect.  Proper operation of forklifts or other machinery to be used in waste movement, proper container packaging, marking and labeling.

Operators receive annual classroom training in hazardous waste management satellite accumulation conducted in a class room setting by Supervisors in monthly safety training.
