The official title for this Manufacturing position is called a PRESS ASSISTANT.  The Press Assistant is responsible for assisting the Press Operators as directed to perform press set-up, make-ready, and clean-up activities within a defined time frame. A person in this role with exceptional performance will have the opportunity over time, to learn press operating duties as well and grow their career from there. An ideal candidate is someone mechanically inclined with solid work experience, very detail oriented, good attendance, and a desire to grow their career with us!  We are willing to hire and train both experienced end entry-level employees that meet our criteria.

Our Omaha plant runs 24 hours a day, five days per week on a 3-shift operation.  

 

Job Duties:

  • Exhibits a safety-first attitude in all that is done, from proper PPE compliance to keeping the work environment safe and hazard-free.  
  • Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures
  • Attains and maintains all defined job objectives related to the planning and execution of all jobs and quick changes
  • Assists in the performance of all make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities (changing from one label job to another)
  • Assists in the performance of all external clean-up activities following changeover
  • Leads clean-up activities following changeover; cleans ink pans and ancillary equipment, strips plates from cylinders, conducts wash-up, locate dies to and from press, etc.
  • May be required to work with press operator to view labels with assistance of strobe light (Warning: Strobe lights may trigger epileptic seizures in persons with photosensitive epilepsy)
  • Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC
  • Compliance with all data integrity, food safety, and GMP standards required.
  • Responsible for following processes and procedures
  • Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace
  • Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety program as scheduled
  • Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned
  • Related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Experience/Skills Required:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Print shop experience helpful, but not required
  • Ability to assist with press set-up, run, and clean-up – ability to do all duties described plus regular requirements of safely lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs, 20+ feet in distance regularly; 75 lbs+ occasionally
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and written form); seen as a team player
  • Ability to read and understand a job ticket
  • Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test)
  • Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test)
  • Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test)
  • Ability to input data in the computer
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions
  • Ability to stand and move around press area for long periods of time (typically 8-hour, but up to 12-hour shifts)

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
