Our Manager Maintenance and Engineering is:  

The technical expert within the facility and an integral part of the team leading continuous improvement, optimization and reliability by directing and managing all maintenance and engineering functions with overall responsibilities for personnel. maintenance, safety, housekeeping, and other maintenance and engineering related activities. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Continually improve leadership and management skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Continue to build and enhance technical skills related to equipment and production processes in order to increase equipment productivity and up-time.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of relentless pursuit of continuous improvement, focused and data based.  Analyze data, track trends, and manage Preventive Maintenance program.  Train on preventive maintenance, and audit for completeness and compliance.
  • Safety: Instill a sense of self-responsibility for safety among associates. Assure the safety of the associates and safe use of the equipment
  • Maintenance Management: Balance maintenance personnel, equipment functionality and production needs with the Plant objectives, improving overall through-put.  Oversee equipment installation and maintenance projects. Maintain local vendor support and visitor/contractor management.
  • People: Build a high performing and skilled team to instill ownership of maintenance objectives through selection, performance assessments, training and development of associates. Assure the development of people at all levels.  Manage daily workload of Maintenance Technicians and Preventive Maintenance Technicians. 
  • Financial: Support Plant budget by controlling labor and overtime, spare parts, supply spending and machine downtime.
  • Customer Relationship: Promote a customer-centered culture at the plant, including assuring productivity and on-time deliveries of a quality product through up-time of equipment.
  • Quality: Optimize the production process to assure that quality is built-in, not inspected in. Quality levels must meet customer requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Manage assigned vendor relationships and contract maintenance for the Plant, including spare and consumable parts management min/max program.
  • Values: Model the Corporate Values and Principles.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years management experience performing industry related maintenance activities, including ability to make work assignments, train, develop and provide guidance to staff.  Demonstrated ability to attract, motivate and retain top talent is a key ability.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance of industrial equipment and machinery, preferably related to printing operations.
  • Advanced working knowledge of electrical, program logic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic concepts and associated operational safety.
  • Degree in manufacturing, industrial/electrical/mechanical engineering related field desired or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize CAD software.  Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, diagrams, engineering specifications and operating instructions.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft programs, parts inventory systems and preventive maintenance tracking programs.
  • Ability to express ideas professionally, clearly and concisely in both written and verbal communications.
