Job Description

Purpose: Direct and manage all maintenance operations (Total Productive/Total Predictive), facilities management, and environmental compliance responsibilities for productivity, quality, safety and housekeeping.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Health, Safety and Environmental: This position is responsible in coordination with the Plant Safety Committee for establishing and continuing a culture that drives a safety oriented workforce. Key member of the Safety Committee.
  2. Values: Model the Corporate Values and Principles, including instilling a high performance, people-driven culture, providing high expectations and high support.
  3. Ability to research and understand local, regional, state and federal compliance regulations.
  4. Owner of compliance systems/programs and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) reporting.
  5. Financial: Build and execute the annual plant capital budget to meet equipment needs. Manage spare part and labor expenditures.
  6. Production Goals and Objectives: Support the achievement of production’s operating metrics, such as conversion rates, KPI’s, percent uptime, waste and housekeeping. Develop and monitor maintenance metrics.
  7. Owner of the internal Maintenance Management System. Responsible for the up keeping of all activities and daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly reports to the executive and production management teams.
  8. Continuous Improvement: In coordination with the Technical Development Manager and CI Lead, drives a culture of relentless continuous improvement. Utilize Lean Manufacturing/TPM tools to drive key performance indicators.
  9. Quality: Supports the concept of Quality at the Source and ensures all maintenance/production staff views themselves as Quality Managers. Ensures productivity is never gained at the expense of quality.
  10. Housekeeping: Ensure that the facility is maintained to a ‘World Class’ level of cleanliness, functionality and organization. This includes but not limited to interior and exterior (e.g. break-rooms, restrooms, parking lot, building windows). Participate in regular 5S audits in coordination with CI Lead and ensure the maintenance team plays an integral part in improving facility audit scores.
  11. Vendor Management: Manage the execution of contract maintenance agreements and vendor performance in the plant (OEM Services, external janitorial services, building contractors and internal shop cleaning technicians).
  12. Project Management: Manage Special projects such as warehouse relocation, facility expansion, construction projects; offset platemaking start-up, special jobs fit to the manufacturing process.
  13. Coordinates activities with landlords related to building plus fire systems testing. Deals with exterior facilities issues related to landscaping and parking lot conditions.
  14. Internal Customer Service: Active participant in meetings with the executive and production management teams.
  15. Key player in providing root cause analysis with equipment or facility challenges.
  16. Sustainability: Assist in our overall effort to improve our sustainability program, help manage recycling efforts, and manage record keeping related to landfill diversion, water reduction, and energy reduction.

 

Job Requirements

  • Education and Training: Engineering degree desired (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or equivalent experience. CMRP also desired.
  • Administrative: Various internal and external reporting on a continuous basis.
  • Qualifications: Implementing Preventative Maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment (preferably in a printing environment, but not required).
    • Knowledge of electrical/HVAC and construction/building
  • Leadership: 5-10 years’ experience of direct leadership/management in a manufacturing environment required. Ability to work in an environment that encourages teamwork, participation, creativity, openness, honesty and mutual respect. Relate to people at all levels of the organization, including diverse cultures.
  • Computer Skills: Moderate high to Advanced level in Microsoft Office or the equivalent.

Design Software: CAD or similar design systems is required.

  • Language Ability: Articulate, clear, persuasive and passionate in the spoken and written word.
  • Project Management: Proven track record of leading and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Safety Compliance: Familiar with and practical knowledge of CA/OSHA manufacturing industry requirements.
  • Math Ability: College level math, including statistical analysis. Working knowledge of budgets, estimates, and forecasting.
  • Physical Demands: Move about in offices and plants.
  • Reasoning Ability: Rational, logical, fact-driven decision making. Read and analyze production and productivity documents.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to be available as required during critical times (i.e., plant shut downs, equipment failure, plant layout projects).
