Job Objective:

The official title for these Machine Operator positions are called REWINDER OPERATOR and AUTO BAGGING OPERATOR. 

These are technical positions and a candidate must have some machine operating experience, as well as manufacturing experience to be considered.  An ideal candidate is someone mechanically inclined with solid work experience, good attendance, and desire to grow their career with us.

Our Chesapeake Plant runs 24 hours a day, five days per week. Our current openings are on 2nd and 3rd shift. Second shift hours are Monday – Friday, 2:45pm – 11:15pm and third shift hours are Sunday - Thursday, 10:45pm - 7:15am.  Occasional overtime as needed.  Competitive pay (depending on experience) with opportunities to grow!  To incent associates for working the night shifts, you will get an additional $0.50/hr shift differential for 2nd shift and additional $1.00/hr shift differential for 3rd shift tacked on to your base pay! 

Detailed duties of this position on a daily basis include:

  • Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures
  • Read job ticket carefully before running machine
  • Input job order information into the computer; set specifications on the machine (count accuracy and attention to detail required)
  • Trouble shooting of machinery as needed and required
  • Inspect and remove all defects from the stacks
  • Slit labels into smaller rolls / Load sealed labels into box until the desired quantity is met
  • Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC, including but not limited to handling procedures, and paperwork requirements
  • Complete quality assurance sheet and associated documentation (as applicable)
  • Responsible for following processes and procedures
  • Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace
  • Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety program as scheduled
  • Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned
  • Related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Experience/Skills Required:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Previous machine experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and written form); seen as a team player
  • Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test)
  • Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test)
  • Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test)
  • Ability to input data in the computer
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions
  • Ability to prioritize and have sense of urgency
  • Ability to withstand routine and repetitive work
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to relate to, work with, and influence as needed, people at all levels of the organization
  • Assertive and solution-focused
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
