Job Description

Job Overview:

The Press Assistant is responsible for assisting the Press Operators as directed to perform press set-up, make-ready, and clean-up activities within a defined time frame. A person in this role with exceptional performance will have the opportunity over time, to learn press operating duties as well.  An ideal candidate is someone mechanically inclined with solid work experience, strong math skills, good attendance, and a desire to grow their career with us!

 

Job Duties:

-          Exhibits a safety-first attitude in all that is done, from proper PPE compliance to keeping the work environment safe and hazard-free.

-          Helps set up jobs on press and leads quick changes from one job to the next

-          Assists in the performance of all external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities (changing from one label job to another)

-          Leads clean-up activities following changeover; Cleans ink pans and ancillary equipment, strips plates from cylinders, conducts wash-up, etc.

-          Locates and stages dies, aniloxes, and other parts to and from press

-          May be required to work with press operator to view labels with assistance of strobe light (Warning: Strobe lights may trigger epileptic seizures in persons with photosensitive epilepsy)

-          Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC and assist with sign-offs

-          Responsible for following processes and procedures

-          Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace

-          Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety program as scheduled

-          Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned

-          Related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

-          High school education or equivalent

-          Print shop experience helpful, but not required

-          Ability to assist with press set-up, run, and clean-up – ability to do all duties described plus regular requirements of safely lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs, 10-20 feet in distance regularly; 75 lbs+ occasionally

-          Detail oriented

-          Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and written form); seen as a team player

-          Ability to read and understand a job ticket

-          Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test)

-          Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test)

-          Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test)

-          Ability to input data in the computer

-          Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities

-          Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions

-          Ability to stand and move around press area for long periods of time (up to 12 hour shifts)

-          Assertive and solution-focused

-          Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment

-          Positive attitude, team player

 

***Internal associates who have been on disciplinary action within the last 6 months due to performance, quality, or attendance will not be eligible to apply for a new position/shift.
