Summary of Role

The Senior Maintenance Technician position ensures the reliable operation of all the manufacturing equipment and the supporting facility infrastructure.

Senior Maintenance Technician

  • Performs scheduled maintenance repairs on production equipment and facilities and provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of same.

  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

  • Perform some mechanical fabrication, welding and machine tool operations as needed to modify and repair process equipment. 

  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical/electronic components, motor controls and automated switchgear, HVAC systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) in a high pace production environment.

  • Assist to coordinate installation and modification of equipment and work cells layout.  Read, interpret and modify blueprints using CAD software.

  • Expert user of methods, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical/electronic equipment.

  • Solid understanding of principles of electrical circuits, process control systems, instrumentation, and standard working terms of the mechanical and electrical trades.

  • Inspect, evaluate, repair or request for repair of all mechanical aspects of the building.

Supervisor Support:

  • Assesses the skills and abilities of maintenance technicians to ensure appropriate work assignments and identifies training needs.

  • Develops and delivers training; directs the work of maintenance techs and provide tech support to less experienced technicians.

  • Assists maintenance engineering manager and/or management staff in developing training and work procedures and information.

  • Works with contractors and property management to complete a variety of projects, as assigned.

  • Schedules and monitors the work of maintenance technicians as assigned.

  • Maintain accurate part and supplies inventories and recommends and/or executes the purchase of replacement or additional parts and supplies as needed.

  • Supports and promotes company culture of continuous improvement (5S, SMED, etc.)

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.                     

Safety:

  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders, work at heights and lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Know and understand operations, observe and enforce safety rules, policies and procedures, including Lock Out Tag Out. 

  • Ability to bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist when installing, repairing, and servicing equipment.

  • Performs simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

  • Safe operation of forklift and aerial lifts, certification a plus.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS:

While preforming the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to:

•        Wear hearing, foot, eye and/or other personal protective equipment while in a manufacturing setting

•        Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance

•        Use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or clasp; reach with hands and arms; occasionally work  in close quarters

•        Vertically lift or horizontally transfer objects up to 50 pounds

•        Vision abilities include – close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color variations, and ability to adjust focus

•        Medium to loud noise environment

•        Work flexible/varying schedules and hours as needed

•        Work overtime as required by workload and customer mandated deadlines

Required Experience, Desired Skills & Qualifications:

•         High school diploma/GED required. Degree or apprenticeship in a technical field a plus

•         Ability to read electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals and technical specifications.

•         Familiar with CMMS based work order/ticketing systems.

•         Working knowledge of NEC and local building codes and OSHA safety standards.

•         Understanding of PLC ladder logic and programming a plus

•         Ability to do equipment layout and read architectural plans/blueprint.

•         Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.

•         Strong prioritization and organization skills.

•         Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.

•         Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

•         Successful experience of increasing responsibility that has included work with a variety of building and infrastructure systems, tools, vehicles, equipment, maintenance and repair

•         Skill in training and directing the work of others

•         Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of previous experience as a Maintenance Technician with references and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
