  • The Quality Manager develops, implements, and maintains quality management systems designed to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturing processes leading to enhanced customer delight.  Provides leadership in the development, coordination and delivery of
    core training to all employees.  The Manager assures the integrity and effectiveness of the Quality Management Department.
  • Role and Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to and enforce mandatory safety requirements. Conduct safety observations and/or audits. Monitor and enforce all safety policies while looking for ways to improve.

    • Lead, practice and sustain Lean initiatives and 6S procedures including Kaizen meetings.

    • Develop close relationships with customers and suppliers in order to clearly understand customer’s expectations of quality.

    • Direct and manager the division’s quality management functions. Provide guidance and direction for
      developing and improving systems which result in increased product quality while maximizing resource utilization.

    • Develop a documented quality system which would assure conformance to customer product specifications. 

    • Approve and maintain ISO related documentation.

    • Lead ISO Internal QMS Audits.

    • Facilitate actions to ensure COPQ metric is reviewed and countermeasures taken.

    • Develop and issue Quality Metrics data (example 5 levels of Peace-of-Mind) that reports on the performance of the quality system for review and as a basis for improvement of the quality systems. 

    • Update Gemba Communication Board with Quality Metrics data, customer feedback, and any
      quality concerns/quality alerts issued.
    • Assist in auditing and monitoring vendor supplied material to assess the quality and reliability of the vendor’s raw material and delivery services.  

    • Work closely with engineering, production, and management personnel to determine prototype quality issues.
    • Develop a quick response communications network with customers of Multi-Color Corporation to track and respond to quality issues after the customer has taken delivery of the product. 
    • Implement corporate Quality Management System expectations as directed at plant level.
    • Interact as appropriate with technical and management staffs. Provide quality consultation on process capabilities, product design, measurement systems, tooling and manufacturing equipment.
    • Determine and make correct 'fitness for use' judgments on products which do not conform to specification.
    • Ensure compliance with government regulations dealing with 'Good Manufacturing Practices'  and Food and Drug Administration.'
    • Be a plant resource for customer audits, 3rd party audits, AIB audits, etc.
    • Responsible for achieving 'Return and Allowance' goals for facility.
    • Active participation in facility waste reduction programs.
    • Responsible for staffing and operations of Quality Management Department.
    • Participate in new employee selection process.
    • Develop, coordinate, and deliver core training to all employees.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    Minimum of associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 3 – 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting conducting internal and/or external Quality Audits. ISO Lead Auditor, Six Sigma, and lean experience a plus.
     
     

    Preferred Skills:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  
    • Worked in Lean environment and led Kaizen events.

    • Segment & analyze data down to root cause and define counter measures using appropriate formal problem solving tools.

    • Understand Quality requirements and tools.

    Physical Demands:
    Quiet conditions; will work in a manufacturing environment and
    will be required to wear hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting.  May, on a continuous basis, stand for a long period of time and stoop and kneel frequently. May handle, feel and reach for items in and around press area, also write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting and/or move up
    to 50 lbs. may be required. 

    Vision:
    Close vision, distance and color vision to distinguish color variations, peripheral and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.  Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Must be able to work overtime as required by workload and customer mandated deadlines.
